It seems like I have been at St. Thomas my whole life. I started here in 1st grade in 1954. After graduating in 1963 I continued on to Marian Central High School in Woodstock. After graduating from Marian in 1967 I went out into the work field. I took some classes at McHenry Country College. I found my niche working as a secretary at different companies. I started out here as a volunteer Mom in 1986 with my son enrolling in the 1st full-day kindergarten class. I have a daughter and another son that are graduates of St. Thomas also. I started working in the school office in 1991 part time and in 1997, I started working full time. I love working with the parents and children here. It’s great to see the smiles on the students when you can answer their questions and the answers are what they want to hear. The families are the best you could ask for when it comes to supporting the staff and faculty and entrusting their children to us.

Having gone to St. Thomas the Apostle School in the early 1960’s, I have seen many changes throughout the years. I have always thought of St. Thomas as family and that is why my husband John and I were married at St. Thomas Church 25 years ago. We have four daughters; Gretchen is currently in the 6th grade at St. Thomas . The other girls all graduated from St. Thomas. Meghan is a senior at Central High School, Amy works full time for a Chiropractor and Kate is graduating in May from Western Ill. University. Little did I know that 30 years after I graduated with a B.S. in health and nutrition from the University of Arizona that I would have a daughter doing the same. I enjoy working in the office and helping the children. It is so much fun to watch the children grow and change as they pass through the years from Kindergarten to 8th grade—especially their visits to the office! Sometimes they change . . . sometimes it is always the same! The best things in life are the simple things that God has given each of us. |
