5th Grade Policies

Dear Students and Parents,
We would like to welcome you to 5th grade at St. Thomas. We are off to a wonderful and successful year. Many new and exciting changes are in store for your child this year.
In order to ensure a successful school experience, we believe that it depends on a cooperative effort between parent and teacher in the development of your child as a life long learner. We have outlined our classroom rules and homework policy. Students, we hope this helps you understand what is expected of you. Parents, we hope to promote an open line of communication so you feel comfortable to call with any questions or concerns. Together, with your support, we will make this year a great one.
Classroom Rules
|
1Cooperate with your teachers and classmates. |
|
2Respect the rights and property of others. |
|
3Carry out your student responsibilities. |
As a class, we have discussed and agreed upon these rules to ensure a safe, secure and positive learning experience.
Consequences for breaking classroom rules are:
|
1. Verbal warning |
|
2. Teacher/student conference |
|
3. Contact parent via e-mail |
![]() 4. Detention |
Homework Policy

It is in the best interest of the student that homework assignments be completed on time. This will build good work habits and also allows for maximum learning. Daily assignments are due the following school day. Projects must be completed by the assigned due date. Exceptions are listed in the student handbook.
Consequences for violating the homework policy are:
|
1. Homework notice will go home for parent signature. Signed notice and the completed homework must be turned in the next day. Late work will be lowered one letter grade. |
|
2. An e-mail to parent will be sent if homework is two days late. Work that is two days late will be lowered two letter grades. |
|
3. Work that is three or more days late will receive a zero. |
It is our hope that through these guidelines, we will help to create a positive and consistent learning environment. As a team working together, we anticipate an exciting and successful year.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Frett
Mrs. Ruszkowski
