Dear Parents,
Just a few updates since the last time I wrote. We began Iowa testing on Tuesday. The children have been doing well.
Believe it or not we are already half way through the first quarter. Don’t forget to check your child’s progress with the online Grade Book, regularly. For this quarter, I have sent home a copy of your child’s progress report. Please note whether or not he or she is missing any work. Remember, “Correct and Return” papers that have not been corrected and returned may show up as a zero grade and a missing assignment. Please review theses reports with your child, sign and return them on Monday.
We will be taking the children to see a live performance of “The Magic Tree House” at the Raue Center, on Thursday October 16th. Please make sure the permission slips and money are returned by September 30th.
I have decided not to give spelling tests until after Iowa Testing. We will continue working on a classroom novel titled Stone Fox it is a great book that really appeals to both girls and boys. It is about a young boy, his sick grandfather and their faithful dog. A book report will be required.
In Math we will be continuing to work on increasing our basic math fact knowledge and speed, through daily math facts testing. In addition to our basic facts mastery, we will explore Money concepts, addition and subtraction properties.
Religion has us discussing how God calls each of us to believe. We have been looking at our special gifts and talents and learning about how to become holy. Each week we will be saying a rosary together as a class and on occasion with our prayer partners.
It is a true pleasure and blessing to work with your children and I genuinely look forward to a terrific year. We are already off to a great start! Hopefully they are coming home and telling you about some of the fun science labs we have worked on. Our focus in science has been on plant and animal growth and development.
God Bless, Mrs. Rosemary Burzynski
