8th Grade Religion |
|
We will be learning about our Church Fathers, the Ecumenical Councils and the ways in which the Church-State relationship developed and shaped the Church. The 8th grade helped their first grade Prayer Partners learn about their Saints for their All Saints Day Program. The 8th graders had to research the saints and help the 1st grade memorize their lines. The 1st graders love when 8th grade come to visit. They really develop a special bond with each other. It is great to see. It has been wonderful to have Father Dennis come and talk to us twice a month. Mrs. Platta and Dan Wolf are still coming to our classroom two Thursdays of each month to work on Confirmation formation with the students. They seem to enjoy their time together in small groups and participate in the discussions. |

7th Grade Literature |
|
The 7th graders have been doing a great job answering their essay questions and supporting their answers by using examples from the text. It is a challenge for them will to be writing three paragraph essays. They need to learn how to be creative in their answers and fully comprehend the questions. We will soon be taking a Literature book break and start studying a novel. The students will be working on reading comprehension and understanding the elements of a story. For some students the biggest challenge will be reading a novel they did not choose. Please encourage them to read the assigned readings. |

They will be reading many novels in high school and at a faster pace then we will be setting. Having your child summarize what they have read after they read a chapter is a good way to help with their comprehension and studying for the tests. |
