Mrs. Houston Computer/Library

I graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. I taught
biochemistry and conducted research for nearly 10 years. In 1988 my husband
(of 28 years this past July) was transferred to
the Chicago area and I became a stay at home mom with our daughter
Amanda-who is now teaching music at Legee Elementary in Huntley, IL and son Anthony-who
is now a sophomore at the University of Dayton also majoring in music
education but with an emphasis on band. Both children graduated from St. Thomas School. I returned to the work force in 1992 as
the school librarian at St. Thomas in Crystal Lake. I took the position
of technology coordinator in 2000. I have
completed my MS in Education with an emphasis on Educational Technology.
I believe that technology is should not be considered as a replacement
to traditional classroom teaching but rather as an enhancement. I
will discuss curriculum with each classroom teacher and design my
curriculum accordingly thus resulting in technology integration. While
doing this, I will continue to strive to meet the recommended National
Education Standards for each grade level.
In addition to tending the technology needs of the school, Mr. Houston and I write, direct and choreograph a musical production for grades 5-8. We are excited about this year's production, Magic in the Tales which will be presented at the Raue Center for the Arts in downtown Crystal Lake, November 10.
I am usually at school between 730 and 4 each day. However, I am usually working on a computer, shelving books, or in a classroom other than my own. The best way to contact me is through email: ghouston@stthomascl.org
I will check my voice mail everyday upon arrival. Voice mails after 730 in the morning might not be picked up until the next day upon arrival at 730.
