Text Box: Fitnessgram News!
The Fitnessgrams have finally been completed.  Every third through eighth grade student should receive one in this family envelope.  Many students received scores that were in the healthy fitness zone.  Many students also grew quite a bit.  Please look over the comments that were printed.  The following is a list of those students who scored in the healthy fitness zone on all six tests.  For the third grade only, just finishing the mile run is considered to be in the healthy fitness zone.  Congratulations to the following students!

Text Box: BMI
There has been quite a bit of information on TV and in the newspapers about BMI scores.  Pediatricians have even been encouraged by the American Academy of Pediatrics to have their patients tested yearly. Body Mass Index is calculated in a formula using height, weight, and age.  For the past three years, we have included this score on the fitnessgram. Mrs. Bukowski, our school nurse, privately measured everyone’s height and weight.  Those scores were recorded into the fitnessgram computer program which calculated the BMI scores.  These scores are only used as a guide.  If you do have concerns, you should consult your doctor.
