Art Policies

Classroom Rules:

1. Enter and exit art room quietly.

2. Stay in your assigned seat. (The seat assignment changes every quarter)

3. No talking while Mrs. Reis is explaining a project.

4. No loud talking, singing or dancing during art class.

5. Sign out for the bathroom pass.

6. When clean up time is announced, stop work immediately.

7. Clean up all materials on and under your desks and put them way in their proper place.

8. Push in chairs and quietly wait to be dismissed.

The Consequences of Breaking an Art Room Rule

1st offense:   Verbal warning. (The younger grades, K-5thgrade , get two warnings)

2nd offense:   Given a “St. Thomas Discipline Slip” detailing the offense. The slip must be signed by a parent and returned the next day to the homeroom or art teacher. (They will not be admitted back to art class without a signed slip)

3rd offense:  Go to Principal’s / Vice Principals office. Parents are notified.

It is fine if a child wants to bring a sketch book to art class to work on during free draw time but they must store them in their own locker or backpack. Please note, scrap drawing paper is always available in the art room for the students to use during this time.

Drawing books may be signed out by students. They are allowed to borrow one book for one week only.  These books are labeled “ St. Thomas Art Dept.” on the front, back and inside cover. If a student does not bring the book back on time I will make calls home and there will be a 5 cent a day late fee.  Due to the popularity of this program and the limited number of books, I only allow four books to be out at one time.  Check the school library for additional books on art, artists and drawing techniques.
