Section 1: The Nervous System 1.)Your body is constantly receiving a variety of stimuli from inside and outside of the body. The nervous system responds to these stimuli to maintain homeostasis.. 2.)Neuron-basic unit of structure and function of the nervous system 3.)A stimulus is detected by sensory neuron. Electrical impulses are carried to the interneuron and transmitted to the motor neurons. The result is the movement of a body part. 4.) Several drugs, such as alcohol and caffeine have a major effect on your nervous system. |

Section 2: The Senses 1.) The senses respond to stimuli. The eyes respond to light energy, and the ears respond to sound waves. 2.)Sensory receptors in your internal organs and skin respond to touch, pressure, pain, and temperature. 3.) Olfactory cells of the nose and taste buds of the tongue are stimulated by chemicals. 4.) Vision problems can be fixed with the intensive care and correct treatment. 5.)Your senses enable you to react to the changing conditions of the environment.
