Science: Mrs. Ventrella  Classroom Policy

Junior High

Supplies:                     You will need to bring the following items to class each day: textbook, notebook, pen, red pen, homework packet, and assignment notebook.

Homework:                 You may have homework every day. Homework will be corrected and be recorded for points. You will occasionally have time in the end of class to start you homework. I encourage all students to ask questions about any homework that they do not understand.

Notebook:                  You will be expected to take notes in class. Notebooks will be collected and graded for completeness and neatness at the end of each quarter.

Participation:              Class participation is an important part of our class discussions. Part of your grade will reflect on your active participation in my class!

Quizzes:                      You will have 2 to 3 quizzes per chapter.  Quizzes come in several forms. One quiz will cover the chapter’s vocabulary.  Some will be short section assessments. Quizzes can range from 10 points to 15 points in value.

Tests:                          Chapter tests will be given at the end of each chapter. They will be worth 40 to 50 points. Extra credit is available on some tests in the form of questions at the end of the test.

Grades:                       Grades are based on the following system: Total Points Earned divided by Total Points Possible

Grading Scale:           School grading scale.

Extra Help:                 Anytime that you do not understand something, please make sure that you ask me. If you start to fall behind or are absent, you should come see me. If you ask your parents or siblings for help, please remember to be patient and respectful!

Extra Credit:              There will be some extra credit questions on certain quizzes and tests.

Behavior:                    We will follow all St. Thomas policies. I encourage a classroom atmosphere where all students feel free to ask questions and are respected.

Thank you! I am glad you have taken the time to read my classroom policies. Let’s have a

great year.
