A Little Bit About Me

I am relatively new to Crystal Lake.  I lived all my life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin moving here about 4 years ago.  My first year at St. Thomas was the ‘03-04 school year when I began employment in a long-term subbing position for 7^th grade.  I absolutely loved the class and was thrilled when asked to become a permanent teacher.  I had been teaching 3^rd grade in Milwaukee and this was a surprisingly wonderful change.   

Both of my children are still living in Wisconsin.  My daughter, Stacie (22) recently earned her cosmetology license in December.  She works at a very hip salon on the east side of Milwaukee.  I am already seeing the ‘experiments.’  Curtis (27) keeps himself very busy.  At the present time, he is a sprinkler fitting apprentice and attends college for an Associate Degree in business.  My son is also in the Air National Guard and was in Iraq for five months last year.  The year before his tour of duty took him to Kuwait.  He is soon to be promoted to Master Sergeant.

I really enjoy gardening and have a special “plot” by our mailbox that I can see from my office window at home.  I saw hummingbirds there last summer and am waiting for them this year.  I am also still trying to figure out why my husband thinks hosta look like weeds.

During the summer break, though, I have been listening to lots of music from the different eras in history.  I will incorporate many different songs into our lessons.  Our classroom motto this year: “History Comes Alive with the Sound of Music.”
