DISCIPLINE POLICIES~

One of the many roles of a preschool teacher is to help the children grow in self-discipline and self-control.  We use redirection as a means of calming the child down and removing them from a situation if inappropriate behavior is being displayed.  If unacceptable behavior continues, we will do the following:

  1. Time out chair.

  2. Write a behavior report to be signed by the parent/guardian.

  3. Speak with the parent or guardian to develop an individual plan for behavior.

  4. After three behavior reports, the student will be suspended for an appropriate amount of time and determined by the teacher, Mrs. Mink and/or the principal, Mrs. Roy.

  5. If the behavior continues, the child will not be able to participate in the St. Thomas preschool program.

  6. Depending on the severity of the incident, a child may be removed immediately and a parent called.

EVALUATIONS~

At the end of each quarter, you will receive a written evaluation of your child’s progress to review.  Parent-teacher conferences are not scheduled for preschool children.  If you would like to schedule one at any time, please contact your child’s teacher.

It is important to remember that we are an extension of St. Thomas the Apostle school.  Many of the policies and procedures listed in the school handbook will apply to the preschool program.
